Gym Rules

YOU ARE PART OF A COMMUNITY. If you don’t know someone, introduce yourself.  If you finish the workout, cheer on people who finish after you. Encourage people to be better in and out of the gym.  We are all part of the Toy Box Community.

IF YOU’RE NOT EARLY, YOU’RE LATE. Show up 10-15 minutes prior to class. Give yourself enough time to sign in, change, chit chat and warm-up before class starts.

GET A PROPER WARM UP IN! You know what your flaws are and what needs extra attention.  When coaches tell you to do a certain exercise, it’s usually because you need work in that area. You will always have a better workout if you get a proper warm up in.

CLEAN UP AND PUT AWAY YOUR TOYS. Put away all the equipment you used back where it belongs. Pick up your used tape, pens, notebooks, scrap papers, chalk, band-aids, water bottles and sweaty clothes.  Stack the boxes neatly, put the bars in the racks, stack the plates in order, hang up your jump ropes.

CHALK STAYS IN THE CHALK BUCKET.  If you get some outside of the chalk bucket, it is YOUR responsibility to sweep it up and wipe the area down.

RESPECT THE EQUIPMENT.  Put things down gently.  Yes bumper plates are designed to be dropped, but keep it in moderation.  Always keep your weight under control.  Never drop an empty barbell.  Never drop a kettlebell or dumbbell. Never drop a 35 0r 45 lb bar with 1-lb plates on it. Equipment is expensive, and the more we have to replace it, the more we’re going to have to charge you.

BRING THINGS TO OUR ATTENTION. If you notice that equipment is broken, lights are out, there’s no toilet paper, bring it to our attention so we can do something about it (especially if you broke it, don’t sweep it under the rug).

EFFORT EARNS RESPECT. Work hard.  Don’t drag people down with a bad attitude.  Be optimistic, have fun, and push yourself.

PUSH YOUR LIMITS. The only way to get stronger is to increase the load.  Always strive to go a little heavier and a little faster.  Never say, “I can’t.”  When you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.  Push your limits.
